" About Katakaigi" History of the workshop
In the 1940s, under the guidance of Muneyoshi Yanagi, who advocated for people to not take on jobs as dyers, he started a folk craft movement. He used a fabric unique to Konjin called Katakai Cotton. This fabric was born from the idea of "beauty in the moment" that is integrated into everyday life, not just for decoration.
* Konya originally meant an indigo dyeing shop, but in the past, indigo dyeing shop was synonymous with dyeing shop, so the term Konya came to refer to all dyeing shops.
